This course is designed to clarify common misconceptions surrounding Levator Ani Avulsion and provide clear guidance to pelvic health therapists wanting to provide accurate information to clients on the relevance of Levator trauma to long term pelvic health and function.
The course will commence with an explanation of differences between micro and macro trauma to the levator ani, follow up with various assessment options (ranging from Gold Standard through to clinical estimations), and finish with a description of clinical relevance.
This class will aim to help participants:
- To understand the anatomical variance in the term "Levator Avulsion" including the difference between partial and full thickness avulsion.
- To understand the assessment of avulsion (both via 3D Trans-Perineal Ultrasound vs clinical estimation), and the benefits and limitations of each.
- To understand the clinical relevance of Levator Trauma
- To understand the possibility for spontaneous resolution of levator avulsion
